Taking part in Cancer Research UK sugar-free February was not always a walk in the park! With temptation lurking around every corner including working on a Cake-Making Business website, sugar found in almost everything, it was time to get creative and find new ways of eating and replacing the usual sugar cravings!
What did going Sugar Free in February teach me?
During this challenge I learned:
Would I recommend this challenge?
Yes, I would recommend going sugar free as an eye-opening education to what you are eating and more importantly what is in the foods you are eating.
Would I recommend a sugar-free lifestyle?
No, I would not recommend this as a lifestyle, there is very little you can eat unless you embrace a complete wholefoods diet and it makes eating out quite difficult. I also don't believe it's part of a balanced diet, you can enjoy treats in your life after all it's enjoyable but as the age-old saying goes "everything in moderation" or as the modern saying goes 'as long as it's part of a calorie deficit'! Denying yourself sugar across the board is just not all that fun!
Final note on Sugar Free February and why I took part?
Once a year, Consultancy Forty7 likes to take part in raising money for charity, I knew this challenge would be tough which is why I signed up for it, no point in making it easy when it's for a good cause! Too many people suffer as a result of Cancer and I am really glad to help where I can and hopefully you can too. Branding is your magic ingredient.
We live in a highly image driven world with social media the go to for everybody everyday. Your brand consists of telling a unique story online through the use of crafted imagery. This is how people or better said clients/customers will identify with you and it’s your business identity that is the linchpin to sales.
“Understanding how your brand makes people feel is the foundation for your marketing strategy and one you do not want to be without”
For example, someone who is moving into a more conscious lifestyle may want to drink more herbal teas. We know herbal teas have many benefits and will compliment clean living however where to start, what to choose? With so many brands on the market part of the decision you make will be in the branding and how it’s made you feel. It may be the colours on the packaging, the design and artwork or how you recall the company’s social media pages or advertising that perhaps told of a story that identifies with who you are as a person. It’s not so much about the teabag inside the box but how everything around it made you feel that you could identify with in your own life.
To look at this in a little more detail here are two examples of a regular tea picture vs a herbal tea picture:
The impact is twofold – one brand packaging is basic and the photograph unclear the second packaging is modern, fresh and exciting and the picture clarity is spot on. Visually overall which one is creating more of an impact and what are they making you feel? Which one is going to attract you more if you are looking to live a more natural lifestyle…
Working with a designer can help you understand your own brand identity, how it’s going to make people feel through the use of online storytelling and offline print and packaging and goes beyond simply making a logo. The marketplace for clients and customers intensifies day by day so it is vital to spend time investing in researching, defining, and building your brand.
